Frequently Asked Questions
Got questions? We've got honest answers. No corporate fluff.
What is BeAnon?
BeAnon is an anonymous social chat app that lets people talk privately with new people, stay private, and become friends only when both sides choose.
What is BeAnon used for?
BeAnon is used for private anonymous conversations, meeting new people safely, and turning anonymous chats into friend connections only when both users choose.
Is BeAnon a coffee brand?
No. BeAnon at beanon.app is an anonymous social chat app. It is built for private chat, safe stranger conversations, and optional friend connections.
How does BeAnon work?
BeAnon lets users start anonymous conversations, chat privately, and decide whether to continue as friends. A friend connection happens only when both users choose.
Does BeAnon reveal my identity?
BeAnon is designed to keep conversations private and give users control over when they reveal more about themselves.
Is BeAnon free to use?
Yep — chatting, connecting, and messaging are all free. No hidden fees, no paywalls on the basics.
There may be some optional premium features in future, billed through App Store or Google Play billing when BeAnon's official store listings and paid features become available. You'll always see the price upfront before anything gets charged.
Is there an age limit?
Yes — BeAnon is strictly 18+. No exceptions. By using the app, you're confirming you're an adult.
Do I need to sign up or create a profile?
Nope — no sign-up, no registration forms, no "verify your email" nonsense. Just open the app and you're in. An anonymous account gets created automatically and tied to your device.
If you want a safety net, you can optionally link a Google account so you can recover your account if you ever switch phones.
Is BeAnon really anonymous?
BeAnon is anonymous to other users by default. You do not need to show your real name, phone number, email, or public profile to start chatting.
The person you're chatting with does not see your public identity. However, BeAnon is not absolute anonymity: we may process limited device, technical, chat, safety, moderation, and service data to operate the app, prevent abuse, investigate reports, enforce rules, and comply with law.
What information does BeAnon collect about me?
We aim to collect only what is reasonably necessary to run, secure, and moderate the service:
- An anonymous account / device identifier — to create and operate your account
- Limited technical and usage data — such as logs and diagnostics for stability and abuse prevention
- Chat, safety, and moderation data — needed to run and moderate the service
- Optional Google account recovery data — only if you choose to enable it
We do not require your real name or phone number to use BeAnon. See our Privacy Policy for the full breakdown of what we collect, why, and for how long.
Can BeAnon see who I'm talking to?
Other users do not see your public identity. To route messages and keep the service safe, BeAnon processes limited account, technical, chat, safety, and moderation data.
Data is protected in transit using standard transport security. BeAnon does not currently offer end-to-end encryption, and reported, flagged, safety-sensitive, or legally required content may be reviewed where necessary.
Are my messages private?
Messages are private from other users unless you choose to share them. Data is protected in transit using standard transport security. BeAnon does not currently offer end-to-end encryption, and reported, flagged, safety-sensitive, or legally required content may be reviewed where necessary.
Message and media retention depends on service, safety, moderation, backup, legal, and operational needs. BeAnon does not promise immediate deletion after delivery.
What happens to messages after they are delivered?
Message retention depends on service, safety, moderation, backup, legal, and operational needs. BeAnon does not promise immediate deletion after delivery.
Reported, flagged, safety-sensitive, or legally required content may be retained and reviewed where necessary. See our Privacy Policy for how long we keep data and why.
Is BeAnon secure against hackers?
We use standard transport security for data in transit and follow reasonable security practices. BeAnon does not currently offer end-to-end encryption. That said, let's be real — no app can promise perfect security against every possible threat.
The best thing you can do? Keep your phone secure — strong lock screen, OS updates installed, the basics. That alone goes a long way in protecting your BeAnon account.
Can I recover my account if I lose my phone?
That depends on whether you set up Google account linking beforehand:
- If you linked Google: You're good — just install BeAnon on your new phone, sign in with the same Google account, and everything comes back.
- If you didn't: Unfortunately, we can't help. Since we don't collect any personal info, there's no way for us to prove it's you and give you access back.
Does reinstalling the app delete my data?
Nope. Uninstalling the app doesn't touch your account or data. If you reinstall on the same device, everything comes back exactly how you left it — chats, friends, all of it.
If you actually want your data gone for good, you need to use the Delete Account option in the app (Settings → Delete Account).
How do I delete my account and data?
It's simple — here's how:
- Open the BeAnon app
- Head to Settings
- Scroll down and tap Delete Account
- Confirm it — and you're done
This wipes everything — chats, friends, history — permanently from our servers. There's no undo button, even if you reinstall.
One thing to know: since your account is anonymous, we can't verify who you are over email. So deletion has to happen from inside the app. Check out our Data Deletion page for the full walkthrough.
Can I use BeAnon on multiple devices at the same time?
Right now, your account lives on one device at a time. You can move it to a new phone if you've linked Google, but using BeAnon on two devices simultaneously isn't supported yet.
How do I report someone for bad behaviour?
Hit the report button right from the chat screen — it's that easy. Our team looks into every report and can restrict or permanently ban the person from the platform.
When you submit a report, we may review the reported content along with context, technical data, and moderation signals to take action. Review is limited to what is reported, flagged, required for safety, required for enforcement, or required by law. For broader tips, see our guide on how to chat with strangers safely.
What content is not allowed on BeAnon?
We keep it simple — don't be terrible. Here's what will get you banned:
- Nudity, explicit sexual content, or pornography of any kind
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — absolute zero tolerance
- Harassment, threats, hate speech, or bullying
- Doxxing or leaking someone's private info
- Spam, bots, or automated messaging
- Scams, fraud, or anything illegal
- Promoting terrorism, self-harm, or violence
Break these rules and you'll catch a permanent device-level ban. Serious stuff gets reported straight to law enforcement. See our full Terms of Use.
Can I block someone I don't want to hear from?
Yes — just tap the block button on the chat screen. Once you block someone, they're done. No more messages, no more connection requests. Gone.
What do premium features include?
Premium gives you extra perks and upgrades for those who want more. You'll see exactly what's included and how much it costs inside the app before you commit to anything. The core stuff — chatting and connecting — stays free for everyone.
How do I cancel my subscription?
When BeAnon's paid features and official store listings become available, you'll cancel through the same place you subscribed:
- Android: Google Play → Account → Subscriptions → BeAnon → Cancel
- iOS: App Store → Account → Subscriptions → BeAnon → Cancel
Just make sure you cancel before your next billing date so you don't get charged again. Subscriptions auto-renew until you turn them off.
Can I get a refund?
When BeAnon's paid features and official store listings are available, refunds, cancellations, and billing are handled through App Store or Google Play billing — not by us — since they process the payments. You'd reach out to their support team for billing issues.
Just a heads-up: losing your phone, deleting your account, or not being able to use the app doesn't automatically mean you get a refund. Refunds follow the app store's policies and applicable laws.
