Safety Center

How we keep BeAnon safe — without compromising your privacy.

How BeAnon Protects You

BeAnon protects your public identity from other users by default, and is for adults aged 18 and above only. BeAnon is not a zero-data or end-to-end encrypted service: we collect limited service and safety data to operate the app, prevent abuse, and protect users. Anonymity is not permission to abuse others. For practical user-side tips, read our guide on how to chat with strangers safely.

Public Identity Hidden

No real name, phone number, or email is required to chat. Your public identity stays hidden from other users by default. You should not assume you are anonymous to BeAnon or to lawful authorities.

Encryption in Transit

Data is encrypted in transit using standard transport security. BeAnon does not currently offer end-to-end encryption.

Reporting & Blocking

You can report or block other users at any time. Reports help our team detect and act on abuse.

Safety Data & Moderation

We collect limited technical and safety data, and may use automated signals and human review to act on reports and protect users.

Age Restriction Policy

BeAnon is strictly for users aged 18 and above. This is not optional — it's a hard requirement enforced at every level of our platform.

How We Enforce the 18+ Requirement

  • Users must confirm they are 18+ before accessing the app
  • Age confirmation is requested at first launch
  • BeAnon will be rated 18+ / Mature on official store listings when they go live
  • Accounts we reasonably suspect belong to minors may be restricted, banned, or deleted
  • Data linked to such accounts may be deleted, or preserved only where required for safety or legal reasons
  • If you believe someone on BeAnon is a minor, please report them immediately

We take underage access extremely seriously. If you suspect someone on BeAnon is under 18, please report them using the in-app report button or email support@beanon.app.

Community Rules

BeAnon is built for real, respectful, anonymous conversations. These rules exist to keep the platform safe for everyone. Violating any of these rules may result in a permanent ban.

Be Respectful

Treat every user the way you'd want to be treated. No harassment, bullying, hate speech, or personal attacks. Disagreements are fine — abuse is not.

Keep It Legal

Don't use BeAnon for anything illegal — no drug deals, fraud, scams, threats, or solicitation. We cooperate with law enforcement when required.

No Explicit Media

Nudity, pornography, and sexually explicit images or videos are strictly prohibited. This applies to all media types — photos, videos, and voice messages.

Protect Others' Privacy

Never share someone else's personal information (doxxing). Don't share screenshots of private conversations. Respect the anonymity of other users.

No Spam or Bots

Automated messaging, mass outreach, promotional spam, and bot accounts are not allowed. BeAnon is for real human conversations only.

No Impersonation

Don't pretend to be someone you're not — especially BeAnon staff, law enforcement, or public figures. Be yourself (anonymously).

For the full legal version of these rules, see our Terms of Use and Community Guidelines.

How to Report Abuse

If someone makes you feel unsafe, you can take action immediately. Reports are confidential — the other user is not notified that you reported them.

Step-by-Step: Reporting a User

  • Step 1: Open the chat with the user you want to report
  • Step 2: Tap the menu icon (three dots) in the top-right corner
  • Step 3: Tap "Report User"
  • Step 4: Select a reason (harassment, spam, underage user, explicit content, threats, other)
  • Step 5: Optionally add details to help our team investigate
  • Step 6: Submit — our moderation team will review within 24 hours

You can also block a user instantly from the same menu. Blocking is immediate — the blocked user can no longer message you or find you on the platform.

For urgent safety concerns (threats of violence, child exploitation, imminent danger), email support@beanon.app with the subject line "URGENT SAFETY" for priority review.

Content Moderation Explained

BeAnon does not generally pre-screen or actively monitor every conversation, but we do not ignore safety. Reports may include message content, media, account context, timestamps, technical data, and moderation evidence. We may review content that is reported, flagged, required for safety, required for enforcement, or required by law.

Here's how our moderation system works:

User Reports

Our primary moderation signal. When you report a user, our trust & safety team reviews the report and takes action — from warnings to permanent bans.

Behavioral Signals

We analyze activity patterns such as rapid messaging, mass contact attempts, and report frequency to help detect abusive behavior.

Automated Detection

Automated systems flag suspicious activity patterns — like accounts that get reported by multiple users in a short time — for immediate human review.

Human Review

Reported, flagged, escalated, or safety-sensitive matters may be reviewed by a person on our trust & safety team, not by automated systems alone.

Moderation Actions

Depending on the severity of the violation, we may take one or more of the following actions:

Enforcement Ladder

  • Warning — first-time minor violations may receive a warning
  • Temporary Restriction — repeat offenders may lose access to certain features temporarily
  • Permanent Device Ban — serious or repeat violations result in a permanent ban tied to your device
  • Law Enforcement Referral — serious criminal activity (such as CSAM, threats of violence, or terrorism) may be preserved, escalated, and reported to authorities where required or appropriate under applicable law

Zero Tolerance Policies

Some violations are so serious that there is no warning, no second chance. The following result in an immediate permanent ban and potential referral to law enforcement:

Immediate Ban & Potential Legal Action

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any exploitation of minors
  • Terrorism-related content or promotion of violence
  • Threats of serious harm or incitement to violence
  • Doxxing or sharing others' private information
  • Nudity, explicit sexual content, or pornography
  • Harassment, hate speech, or targeted bullying
  • Scams, fraud, phishing, or other illegal activities
  • Spam, bots, or automated messaging
  • Underage users (under 18)

Serious safety issues — such as CSAM, sexual exploitation, threats, self-harm risk, terrorism, fraud, or other serious illegal conduct — may be escalated, preserved, and disclosed where required or appropriate under applicable law. For the full details, see our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines and Content Moderation Policy.

Safety Guidelines

Anonymity gives you freedom — but it also means you need to take care of yourself. Here are our recommendations for staying safe on BeAnon

Protect Your Identity

  • Never share personal information — no real name, address, phone number, social media handles, or workplace details
  • Never share sensitive data — no Aadhaar or government IDs, financial or card details, OTPs, or passwords. No one legitimate will ask for these in chat
  • Don't share private photos of yourself — even if someone asks, protecting your identity is your best safeguard
  • Avoid location-revealing details — don't share your exact location, school, office, or neighborhood by name
  • Use a unique display name — don't reuse usernames from other platforms

Stay Alert

  • Don't click suspicious links — if someone sends you a URL, be extremely cautious. It could be a phishing attempt
  • Trust your instincts — if a conversation feels off, uncomfortable, or threatening, block and report immediately
  • Don't send money — never send money, gift cards, or financial information to anyone on the platform
  • Be skeptical of sob stories — scammers often use emotional manipulation to gain trust

Secure Your Device

  • Keep your device secure — use a strong lock screen, enable biometric authentication, and keep your OS up to date
  • Link your Google account — so you can recover your BeAnon account if you lose or change your phone
  • Use official sources only — once BeAnon launches, install it only from the official store links published on beanon.app. Modified or sideloaded versions may compromise your security

Real-World Safety

  • Never agree to meet someone in person — BeAnon is designed for anonymous online chatting, not arranging meetups
  • Don't share your location — even if someone asks to meet or claims to be nearby
  • If you feel threatened — block and report in the app, and contact local law enforcement if you believe you are in danger
